Short answerThe maid levy is SGD 300 a month for your first helper and SGD 450 for each additional helper. Households with a young child, an elderly member or a person with disability may pay the concessionary rate of SGD 60. It is due by the 17th of the following month.
Employers do not pay CPF for a helper, but must pay a monthly foreign worker levy to MOM.
Levy rates
| Type | Monthly | Daily |
|---|---|---|
| Normal, first helper | SGD 300 | SGD 9.87 |
| Normal, subsequent helpers | SGD 450 | SGD 14.80 |
| Concessionary | SGD 60 | SGD 1.98 |
The daily rate applies only for a part month. The concessionary rate is for households with a young child, an elderly member or a person with disability; check eligibility with MOM.
When it starts and ends
For a first-time helper, the levy starts on the 5th day of arrival (counting the arrival date). Otherwise it starts the day after arrival. It ends when the Work Permit is cancelled or expires.
Paying
Each month's levy is due by the 17th of the following month (next working day if that falls on a weekend or public holiday), by GIRO or PayNow QR.
Late payment
Late payment brings a penalty; missing two consecutive months leads to the Work Permit being revoked, and you may be barred from applying for Work Permits and face legal action.
